Matenin Kamara

Matenin Kamara is the Assistant Executive Director for Awareness for Surviving Women And Children (ASWAC). She received her Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation and Human Services at Pennsylvania State University, Abington. She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Health Care Administration at Saint Joseph University, Philadelphia. Her professional interest focuses on planning and supervising all medical services, monitoring budgets, and updating health records.

 

Matenin Kamara has participated in community service at local schools and daycares in Philadelphia to give out breakfast, painting T-shirts, and decorating daycare rooms. She was also a board member and secretary of the African Student Organization (ASO) at Penn State University to help bring African Culture Awareness on campus. Her role in the ASWAC Organization is to help bring awareness to individuals who have been abused or neglected physically, emotionally, and mentally.  Her current duties include answering and directing phone calls and providing relevant information about ASWAC. In addition, she also assists the executive and board of directors with administrative tasks and carries out administrative responsibilities.

Awareness for Surviving Women and Children

Awareness for Surviving Women and Children (ASWAC) is a 501(c) non-profit organization 

that provides services to abused victims.  Services include promoting abuse sensitivity and awareness in the community,  schools, and organizations/groups through education. We also provide awareness about teen dating violence,  safety planning,  accompaniment with Protection From Abuse (PFA) orders, medical and legal referrals, temporary emergency shelters, and relocation assistance.  ASWAC  primarily serves all women and children at no cost to victims and their loved ones.
